Hearing a Call to Serve Those in Need

As a child, Meghan Curley ’16 was always trying to help others. Curley chose to join the Assumption community because she found that people shared the same commitment. In January, she answered a call to help 1,800 Peruvians hear for the first time.

The Importance of Serving with Compassion

Matthew Brennan, political science major, learned many lessons, one of the most important being to serve with compassion. Brennan carried a quote after graduating which says, “The secret of our influence is that we love our students, that they feel our love,” and this guides him in his career in healthcare.

Using Service and Compassion to Impact the Lives of Others

When Alison Shilinsky learned that her 6-year-old son, was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome and autism, she turned to Easter Seals of Massachusetts for an assistive technology evaluation. The test concluded that Lucas would benefit from using an iPad app called TouchChat in which he can now communicate towards others.

When they graduate, Assumption students have a number of possibilities open to them. Frank Bruno ’17, an English and mass communications major from Wethersfield, CT, has spent much of his time since graduation engaged in a year of service helping those in need in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
